Somebody call Al Gore. At Noon Hawaii time with the sun directly overhead and only partial cloudiness, the temperature on Mauna Kea remains below freezing at 31F/-0.50 C.
Snow began falling about 1PM Saturday June 4 at the upper elevations of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. The two mountains top out in excess of 13,000 feet.

At upper right in this photo is the Mauna Kea snowcap as seen looking north from the CO2 observatory on Mauna Loa (irony intended).
Weather record data show that freezing temperatures occur on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa in all 12 months of the year. The record low for June is 22F/–5C. The temperature dipped to –3.09C at 2PM June 4.
On May 21, 2007, the late Augie Auer, Chief Meteorologist for the Meteorological Service of New Zealand, said of Global Warming: “We’re all going to survive this. It’s all going to be a joke in five years.”
His prediction has come true eleven months early.
