Vietnam Veterans Memorial: Wall That Heals Coming to Maui

News Release from Maui County Veterans Council

The Maui County Veterans Council, in collaboration with the County of Maui, is honored to be selected to host The Wall That Heals on Maui, Hawaii, from February 9 to 13, 2024.

The traveling exhibit honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War, and it bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

The Wall That Heals exhibit includes a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center. The exhibit is free to the public and will be on display at the War Memorial Stadium.

In addition to financial sponsors, we would appreciate your assistance with in-kind services. A member of our committee will be pleased to discuss options with you.

Since its debut in 1996, the exhibit has been on display in more than 700 U.S. communities in addition to an April 1999 tour of the Four Provinces of Ireland and a visit to Canada in 2005.

The Wall That Heals is a program of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, the nonprofit organization that built the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1982. The Wall That Heals is the only traveling exhibit affiliated with The Wall in Washington, D.C. and includes the largest Wall replica that travels the country.

We also want to share an amazing opportunity to get involved as volunteers during the time we host The Wall That Heals. Over 250 volunteers are needed to support its 24-hour display.

Our committee is made up of veterans' organizations, residents, community leaders, and education professionals all dedicated to honoring this remarkable project and integral part of our history.

For questions. please contact Aris Banaag at (808) 870-6134 or Janna Hoehn at (808) 276-5455 or twthmaui@gmail.com or visit https://TheWallThatHealsMaui.com.

Mahalo for your continued support for our Veterans.
