GOP: Berg's years of service to community recognized
By Jonah Ka`auwai @ 11:25 PM :: 8561 Views :: Maui County, Education K-12, Energy, Environment

The Office of Elections announced the results of the City Council District 1 Special Election this afternoon and I am pleased to announce that Tom Berg is the winner.  He beat out 14 other candidates to win this election.  My sincere congratulations go out to him and his campaign team.  The residents of the Leeward Coast will be served well by Council member-elect Berg.

As many of you know, Tom has proudly represented the values of our party for years as a volunteer in the community, member of the Ewa Neighborhood Board and as a candidate for the State House.  His years of dedication and service to his community have clearly been recognized by voters in this Special Election.

All the residents of the City and County of Honolulu can now rest assured that we will have a much needed voice of fiscal responsibility on the City Council.  We can all look forward to Tom holding the City accountable for the way it spends our tax dollars.

I would also like to send a mahalo out to the other Republican candidates, Kioni Dudley, Bob McDermott and John Rocco for stepping up to run for this seat.  They deserve our appreciation for representing the values of our party in this election.

Congratulations again to Tom Berg, we all look forward to watching you go to work on the City Council.

Sincerely ,

Jonah Ka'auwai

Chairman
