With Help from Maui Council, Convicted Sovereignty Scammer Keanu Sai Launches ‘Hawaiian Kingdom’ Bond Sales

Facing a new round of criminal prosecutions for his mortgage scams, convicted felon, and Windward Community College faculty member, Keanu Sai is launching sales of so-called Hawaiian Kingdom bonds.

Sai launches his latest scheme in an August 13, 2019, video featuring lawyers Dexter Ke'eaumoku Ka'iama and Steve Laudig, Laudig’s client, former Hawaii County Councilmember Jennifer Ruggles, whose father is currently on trial for his latest round of drug charges, UH professors Dr. Willy Kauai, Dr. Niklaus Schweizer, Dr. Puakea Nogelmeier, Sai's cousins Kau'i Sai-Dudoit and the late Peter 'Umialilioa ‘Jiggy Boy’ Sai, and three sitting members of the current anti-GMO Maui County Council majority: Chair (and crony capitalist biofuel schemer) Kelly King, Tamara Paltin, and Shane Sinenci.  The sales pitch for fake HK bonds begins at 35:54 mark.

Sai gave lengthy presentations to the Maui Council May 15, 2019, and again on August 21, 2019—just a week after releasing his Hawaiian Kingdom Bond sales video.

This isn’t the first time that Sai has launched scams with help from regressive-progressive Maui council members and UH Manoa.  Flashback to 2011: “Sovereignty Mortgage Scammer Keanu Sai at it again with help from Legislators, Maui Council, University.”

Sai in 1999 was convicted of felony theft for his part in the 1990s ‘Perfect Title’ mortgage scams.

If you’ve got $25 or $100,000 burning a hole in your pocket, you can “buy” Hawaiian Kingdom bonds from Sai’s website – there’s only one problem, the bonds have already expired.

According to Sai’s website, the bonds are: “Redeemable at par within 1 year after the 5th year from the date when the United States of America's military occupation of the Hawaiian Islands has come to an end and that the Hawaiian government is in effective control in the exercising of its sovereignty.”

Hawaii is not militarily occupied, as evidenced by the fact that we are governed by elected officials not military officers—but this hasn’t always been the case.

Hawaii was militarily occupied by the United States from the date of the Pearl Harbor attack, December 7, 1941, until October 24, 1944.  It was hard to miss.  Military tribunals heard criminal cases.  Instead of elected officials, Hawaii was ruled by the commanding general of the Army’s Hawaiian Department.

Therefore, following logically from to the text of his website, Sai’s bonds were only redeemable from October 24, 1949 to October 24, 1950.

According to the Hawaii DCCA Securities Enforcement Branch website, “We investigate complaints against individuals and businesses for possible violations of state securities and franchise laws. We can take legal action against violators, and in appropriate cases, refer matters to other agencies for criminal prosecution. Please help us stop securities and franchise fraud by reporting fraud to us.”

Attorneys involved in fraudulent activities may be reported to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
