News Release from Office of Elections, Mar 8, 2018 i

Pearl City, March 8, 2018 – For the 2018 Elections, five political parties have qualified to appear on the ballot. They are:

Democratic Party
Green Party
Libertarian Party
Republican Party

These parties may field candidates for partisan contests like U.S. Senate or State Representative. Candidates not affiliated with a political party can still run as nonpartisan candidates.

These political parties and nonpartisan will be on the ballot for the Primary Election on August 11. Hawaii conducts a single party primary where voters must indicate their political preference and vote only for candidates associated with their selected political preference. The candidates who receive the most votes are nominated to represent their political party in the General Election.

The Primary Election is on August 11, 2018 and the General Election is on November 6, 2018.
