GOP Chair Ka’auwai: “We must elect Djou”
By Jonah Ka`auwai @ 10:27 PM :: 7030 Views :: Energy, Environment, National News, Ethics

CHAIRMAN KA’AUWAI RESPONDSTO PASSAGE OF $2.5 TRILLION DOLLAR GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL

HONOLULU—Hawai'i Republican Party Chairman Jonah Ka'auwai made this statement today:

“Despite claims otherwise, the bill passed tonight in the United States Congress does nothing to help the people of Hawai'i. Instead, this bill undermines our prosperity and the prosperity of our children.  This complicated and convoluted new government entitlement is another expenditure we are irresponsibly placing on the back of generations to come.

“How can Speaker Pelosi say that this bill assures Americans more liberty when it calls for the intrusion of government into the lives of all of us?  Today, Medicare, Social Security and now Government-Run Health Care has more people dependent on the government than ever before.  This is a far stretch from what the Founding Fathers had intended.

“Since the healthcare debate heated up in March, over 7,617 jobs were lost every day.  Not only did Congress fail to address the most important issues of the day—jobs and the economy—but they passed legislation that is guaranteed to hurt businesses and negatively impact jobs.  Hawai'i needs congressional representation that works for our concerns, for our jobs and most importantly, for our families.

“We have a unique opportunity here in Hawai'i come May.  We can, must and will elect Republican Charles Djou to Congress, gain a champion of fiscal accountability, individual responsibility for Hawai’i and return independent, effective leadership to Congress.”
