National Defense PAC endorses Shirlene Dela Cruz Ostrov

News Release from Ostrov Campaign August 17, 2016

The National Defense Political Action Committee (NDPAC) endorsed Shirlene Dela Cruz Ostrov for Hawaii's first congressional district. NDPAC said "Her's is a life distinguished by service, sacrifice, and leadership," and went on to describe her 23 years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force and accomplishments since retiring as a colonel.

"Colonel Ostrov is exactly the kind of woman that we must elect to the U.S. Congress," retired Rear Adm. James J. Carey, NDPAC chair, said. "Truly a proven leader, warrior, and avid patriot who has seen the world of national defense from the strategic, operational, and tactical points of view, and where she has been responsible for accomplishing a mission while putting U.S. military men and women in harm's way. Her experience in the private sector and leading non-profit organizations, and involvement in civic organizations shows that everything she has pursued, she accomplished outstanding results."

During her time in the U.S. Air Force, Ostrov served as an interagency and legislative liaison, helping legislators understand the consequences of some of their legislative proposals. She was also part of the State Department’s Special Envoy to Sudan.

"I am both humbled and honored to receive the endorsement of the National Defense PAC for my candidacy for the United States Congress," Ostrov said. "I am passionate about representing our active duty military, Guard and Reserve members, veterans, and their families, and look forward to continuing my service in Congress. I am especially concerned about strengthening our national and homeland security, reining in wasteful federal spending and ensuring that the voices of the people of Hawaii are heard."
