Dubanoski Appointed to Judicial Selection Commission by Chief Justice Recktenwald

News Release from Hawaii Judiciary April 1, 2016

HONOLULU, HI – Dr. Richard A. Dubanoski was sworn in today as a member of the state Judicial Selection Commission by Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald.  Chief Justice Recktenwald appointed Dr. Dubanoski to the Commission, replacing Dr. Phyllis C. Horner, for the remainder of her term, effective April 2, 2016 and expiring on April 1, 2019.

Chief Justice Recktenwald thanked Dr. Horner for her service on the Commission, and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Dubanoski for his willingness to serve.

Dr. Dubanoski is Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa.  From 1989-2011 he served as the Dean of the University‘s College of Social Sciences.  Dubanoski was named University of Hawai'i Manager of the Year in 2006 and in 2011 he received the Willard Wilson Award for Distinguished Service to the University. 

Dubanoski earned his masters and doctorate in Child Development from the University of Minnesota.  In addition to his years of public service, Dr. Dubanoski brings an extensive background in research on a broad cross section of social issues affecting a variety of community interests.
