OVER 15,000 BALLOTS CAST AT HAWAII REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CAUCUS

News Release from Hawaii Republican Party

HONOLULU (March 9, 2016) - The Hawaii GOP had a record turn-out at its Republican Presidential Caucuses on Tuesday, with over 15,000 Hawaii Republicans casting ballots at 45 polling places statewide.

State Party Chair Fritz Rohlfing said: "We had a remarkable turn-out yesterday evening throughout Hawaii nei. Our voter turn-out increased from 10,000 in the 2012 caucuses to over 15,000 this year, a more than 50% increase. We are profoundly grateful to our 500+ dedicated Republican volunteers who staffed the polling sites and without whom our caucuses would not have been such a success."

"Both nationally and in Hawaii our party has the momentum and enthusiasm as we continue to set historic highs for GOP turn-out while Democrat voters stay home. Our strength at the polls is a clear sign the American people want a new direction that can only be delivered by a Republican president and they're turning out to vote in record numbers to reject the prospect of another Democrat in the White House," Rohlfing added.

The outcome of the March 8 voting will directly determine proportional delegate allocation among the competing candidates. Caucus results are posted on www.gophawaii.com and official results are pending certification.
