Hawaii Shippers’ Council Discusses the Jones Act on Guam Radio

by Michael N Hansen, President, Hawaii Shippers Council

(Note: The day of interview was Wednesday Guam Time, which was Tuesday, May 27, 2014, Hawaii Time, due to crossing the International Date Line.)

The interview focused on how to mitigate the costs and increase the efficiency of domestic ocean shipping, which is a common concern for both the residents of the Territory of Guam and State of Hawaii as so much of what we consume is brought in by sea.

The radio host in Guam was Ray Gibson on Radio Talk K57 and the Hawaii Shippers Council was represented by Mike Hansen.  This was the first live interview for the Council in Guam and we covered the basics of the Jones Act, cabotage and their effects on Guam and the other noncontiguous jurisdictions.

The interview lasts for approximately 10 minutes.
