Education: GEAR-UP Hawaii to be Focus of Briefing

The purpose of this informational briefing is to receive an overview of the federally-funded program GEAR UP Hawaii (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) in light of National GEAR UP Week.  There are three programs in Hawaii: the Statewide GEAR UP Hawaii, GEAR UP Partnership between UH West Oahu and Nanakuli-Waianae Intermediate and High Schools, and GEAR UP Partnership between UH Manoa and Waipahu Intermediate and High Schools.

The following have been invited to present:

  • Karen Lee, Ed.D, Executive Director, Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education
  • Angela Jackson, Associate Director, Hawaii P-20 and Project Director, GEAR UP Hawaii
  • Hawaii State Department of Education
  • Holomua, GEAR UP Nanakuli-Waianae - UH West Oahu
  • Erwin Legaspi, Project Director, GEAR UP Waipahu - UH Manoa
  • Keith Hayashi, Principal, Waipahu High School

No public testimony will be accepted.
