After One Month, Still Nobody Riding Rail--HART Fears Kids will Sell Free Holo Cards

SA: … Since paid ridership began July 5, Skyline averages 3,000-4,000 passengers per day. But Morton expects (dreams) ridership to increase when school resumes in the fall and close out 2023 with about 8,000 daily passengers….

(Without doing shrooms) Morton expects (hallucinates) ridership to grow as each new station opens, especially at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and Middle Street, eventually increasing to 85,000 daily passengers when rail reaches town.

By 2026, Morton expects this year’s forecast of 8,000 daily passengers to nearly double to 15,000….  (and still no shrooms).

“We need to be clear-eyed about ridership,” he said without laughing…

(CLUE: Dilated pupils.)

Beginning in August, the Department of Education will provide public high school students in grades 9 through 12 with free HOLO-style student ID cards that will let them ride TheBus and rail for free through May, Morton said.

Each pass is worth $400 but will be issued only with parental permission, he said.

(CLUE: Kids will be selling these.)

Why were oral arguments challenging permit of Thirty Meter Telescope deferred? Nobody will say

BIN: … The Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources, which announced the postponement on July 21, provided no reason why the arguments would not be heard at the July 28 regular Land Board meeting. It also would not say how long the arguments will be stalled.

“As this is considered a continuation of a previous hearing, we cannot make any comment until the Board of Land and Natural Resources continues the hearing,” said Dan Dennison, senior communications manager of the Department of Land and Natural Resources.

He said the department is working with all parties on scheduling a continuation, and that all parties will be notified via another order when a new date is selected.

Land Board Chairwoman Dawn Chang also filed on July 17 a disclosure statement in relation to the matter in which she shared her history as principal at Ku‘iwalu Consulting from 2001 to 2022….
