NOTICE OF OPEN APPLICATION PERIOD

Pursuant to chapter 329D1 , Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), notice is hereby given that the open application period for medical marijuana dispensary licenses shall begin at 8:00 a.m., Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time, on January, 12, 2016, and close on January 29, 2016, at 4:30 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time.

The application form will be available to the public on the Department of Health (DOH) website at http://health.hawaii.gov/medicalmarijuana, on January 11, 2016, at 8:00 a.m., Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time. Applications can be submitted through the DOH website beginning on January 12, 2016.

The interim Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) providing the regulatory requirements for a medical marijuana dispensary license are being finalized and pending approvals. Once approved, the rules will be posted at http://health.hawaii.gov/medicalmarijuana. The rules set out the process and the merit criteria the DOH will use to select licensees. DOH expects to select and announce licensees by April 15, 2016.

A dispensary licensed pursuant to chapter 329D, HRS, may begin dispensing medical marijuana not sooner than July 15, 2016, with the approval of the department.
