Reps. Marumoto and Thielen back Minority Leader Finnegan


HONOLULU - House Minority Leader Lynn Finnegan, Republican candidate for Lt. Governor, today announced the endorsement of several members of her Minority Caucus in her election bid. The Minority Caucus elected Lynn Finnegan as their leader five years ago.

“It is very exciting to see Lynn take this next step in her political leadership.  Having worked hand-in-hand with her as our Republican Leader in the House, her skill and ability will serve our team well whether she is in the House Chambers or leading with Republican principles from the 5th floor of the Capitol,” said Representative Barbara Marumoto, District 19, Waialae Iki, Kalani Valley, Waialae Nui, Diamond Head, Kahala. “She understands what the private sector is experiencing today and will work to stimulate our economy through sustainable means like private sector job creation. 

Rep. Marumoto has served her district since 1978 and is widely respected on both sides of the aisle.

“I am also honored to voice my support for Lynn Finnegan as our next Lt. Governor.  Lynn’s work ethic and bipartisan leadership are critical for Hawaii to continue the good works started under the Lingle-Aiona Administration.  Chiefly, I know that Lynn understands the importance of our pursuit of a clean energy economy and is committed to seeing it to the next level through a variety of sources like wave, solar, wind and geothermal energy,” said Representative Cynthia Thielen, District 50, Kailua, Kaneohe Bay.

Rep. Thielen has served her district for 20 years and has become a leading authority on wave-generated clean energy.

“I consider the backing of my colleagues in the House of Representatives as the highest honor.  These individuals have worked with me for the past eight years and elected me their leader five years ago. They have also worked closely with the Lingle-Aiona Administration and know what it takes to serve as the Lt. Governor.  Their vote of confidence in my ability is humbling and motivating,” said Lynn Finnegan. 

Lynn Finnegan is running in a contested primary for the Republican Lt. Governor nomination, on Saturday, September 18.
