News Release from League of Women Voters
What happens to other city services when the Honolulu rail is in operation and transit consumes 19% of the city budget? Now transit takes 10%.
A forum to discuss which services must be reduced or what taxes must be raised will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at Washington Middle School, King St. at Punahou.
Panelists are Ann Kobayashi, chair of city council budget committee; Matthew Lynch who heads the effort to remake Kamalii park; Natalie Iwasa, CPA and city council activist; and Richard Ubersax, project analyst for a large industrial company.
The League of Women Voters of Honolulu sponsors this forum to get citizens to think about how operating a rail system affects other city services and property tax rates. Everyone is welcome. Ample free parking, enter from King St after Punahou.
