News Release from HGEA, April 24, 2013
The Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA) today announced that the union’s Unit 8 negotiating team has reached a tentative two-year agreement with the University of Hawaii and the State of Hawaii for the contract period from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015.
The terms of the agreement, include the following:
Effective July 1, 2013:
• 4% across the board increase
• EUTF — Employer will contribute the dollar amount equivalent to 60% of the insurance premium on the prevalent plan (HMSA 80/20)
• EUTF — Employer will contribute 60% of the administrative fees
• The Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) will provide four (4) professional development days with pay for all employees who were subjected to the five percent salary reduction July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013.
Effective July 1, 2014:
• A two-step adjustment equivalent to 4%
• EUTF — Employer will continue to contribute the same dollar amount plus an additional $10 per month on a single plan, $20 per month on a two-party plan or $30 per month on a family plan
• EUTF — Employer will contribute 60% of the administrative fees
• The Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) will provide four (4) professional development days with pay for all employees who were subjected to the five percent salary reduction July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013.
HGEA’s Unit 8 membership consists of approximately 2,350 administrative, professional and technical University of Hawaii employees.
The agreement is subject to ratification vote by the bargaining Unit 8 membership. Statewide Unit 8 ratification meetings will be held Thursday, April 25.
