Schatz Raises More Than $1.1 Million in First Quarter of 2013
News Release from Schatz for Senate Committee April 11, 2013
Today, the Schatz for Senate campaign announced that U.S. Senate candidate Brian Schatz raised over $1.1 million in the first fundraising quarter of 2013, with over $1 million cash-on-hand. Between January 1st and March 31st, Schatz received contributions from primarily individual donors, nearly 80% of which came from the state of Hawaii.
"I'm profoundly grateful and deeply humbled by the generous support I've received in my first three months as Senator,” said Schatz. “I'm committed to providing strong leadership for the people of Hawaii, and determined to run a strong campaign worthy of the people of Hawaii."
This impressive fundraising total comes just two weeks after 500 people attended the Schatz for Hawaii campaign kick-off event at Farrington High School. With 19 months until the election, Schatz has also already secured endorsements from fifteen organizations, including the League of Conservation Voters, the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly, IBEW Local 1260, the Hawaii Building and Construction Trades Council and eleven of its member unions.
Schatz's filing also showcased his early success building relationships with his Senate colleagues. After just three months as Senator, Schatz received contributions from PACs operated by Senators Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Michael Bennet, Elizabeth Warren, and Heidi Heitkamp.
