Despite its generally better housing affordability, the United States also had the least affordable market outside the major markets, in Honolulu, with a Median Multiple of 9.3.

Even in Honolulu, housing affordability has deteriorated markedly, with the Median Multiple rising 0.6 points in just the last year. Honolulu was less affordable than all but two of the 337 markets (Hong Kong and Vancouver)….

The other least affordable markets in the US were in coastal California --- Santa Cruz (8.2), Santa Barbara (7.9) and San Luis Obispo (7.5)….
