News release from Honolulu Navy League
(Honolulu, Hawaii), December 31, 2012 – Come support the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) this Monday, January 7 at their introductory luncheon at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
“This lunch is our opportunity to introduce this year’s amazing team,” said Bob McDermott, Executive Director of the Navy League-Honolulu Council. “The team’s mission is to raise awareness of the sacrifices and resilience of our military by highlighting their ability to rise above any challenge.”
The WWAST raises awareness through exhibition and celebrity softball games. Their goal is to show other amputees and the general population that these athletes, through extensive rehabilitation and training, are able to express their desires and perform the sport they love. Tickets for the lunch are $25 per person. Please RSVP to nlhcfinance@hawaii.rr.com no later than noon on Thursday, January 3. Visit the Navy League-Honolulu Council at www.HonoluluNavyLeague.org.
