Honolulu City Council to Honor December 7 Vets at Ewa Field

Saturday morning at Ewa Field on Saturday, December 8, at 9 AM, John Hughes, seen in famous Pearl Harbor photo firing at attacking Japanese planes with a 1903 Springfield rifle, will be at Ewa Field to receive an honorary certificate signed by members of the Honolulu City Council.
In addition, Simon Nasario will also be there at Ewa Field to receive an honorary certificate signed by members of the Honolulu City Council. Born in Ewa, 94 years old, he was at Ewa Village when it was attacked and later guarded the first US prisoner of WW-II- Ensign Sakamaki from a Japanese midget submarine that beached on Waimanalo.
After the ceremony they will take off in a tour helicopter ride over Ewa Field and Pearl Harbor and Videoed for an upcoming documentary of historic Ewa Field and Ewa Village during the December 7, 1941 attack.
