The Gift of Hope Charity Concert

From New Hope Church

As many of you have seen in the news, Moanalua High School's Gift of Hope Charity Concert has been cancelled. This is an unfortunate situation, however, it is not the end. The students' plans for their charity concert have ended, however, the spirit of Aloha has not.

The volunteers that were supporting Moanalua have decided to put on a charity concert to benefit Mercy Ships. It will take place at the New Hope Ministry Center (290 Sand Island Access Road) on Friday, December 7th at 730pm. Ticket holders to The Gift of Hope Charity Concert can use those tickets to attend this concert. Or, you can get a full refund by turning in your tickets on Friday night, at New Hope's weekend services or at Moanalua High School. If you need more information call Chad Brownstein at 842-4242 ext 140. All unclaimed refunds after December 21st will be donated to Mercy Ships.

The Katinas, an internationally recognized, award-winning band has generously donated of their time to perform at this concert, along with some of their friends (including Tiffany Thurston). Gary Stephens, cofounder of Mercy Ships, will also be there to share about the organization.

For those interested in attending this new Mercy Ships charity concert, there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door. 100% of ticket sales and donations will go to Mercy Ships.

The new charity concert is not a State of Hawaii Department of Education event, nor is it endorsed or affiliated with Moanalua High School or the State of Hawaii. It will be a Christian concert.

Blowback: Concert Ticket Sales Skyrocket after Drudge Report Picks up Atheist Attack

HNN: Attention on the cancellation resulted in an increase in ticket sales for a backup event….

News of the cancellation went viral and gained national media attention, and New Hope has since decided to reschedule the concert….

"That's one of the things about Hawaii-- it doesn't matter what goes on, the Christmas spirit is alive and well, and we're going to help people. So the concert is going to continue here at our office," says Cordeiro.

New Hope says charity donations and ticket sales for the rescheduled concert have skyrocketed.

"The Bible talks about that how God will take something evil and turn it into something good. We believe that God is a part of this and God knows what's going on. So it helped ticket sales, it helped the profits, it helped the benefit to the people there in Africa. And we're just happy that it's gonna continue and that people will be helped" says Cordeiro.
