JSC Nominates Six for Oahu Family Court

DISTRICT FAMILY COURT JUDGE, FIRST CIRCUIT NOMINEES

Judicial Selection Commission Press Release November 27, 2012

Under the Constitution of the State of Hawaiʻi, Article VI, Section 3: The Chief Justice, with the consent of the Senate, shall fill a vacancy in the district courts by appointing a person from a list of not less than six nominees for the vacancy presented by the Judicial Selection Commission.”

The Judicial Selection Commission is pleased to announce a list of nominees for the new judicial office of District Family Court Judge of the First Circuit, State of Hawaii (Oʻahu) formed by the 2012 Legislature under Act 107, Session Laws of Hawaiʻi. 

The list of nominees selected by the Commission to fill the vacancy is as follows, in alphabetical order:

·       Brian A. Costa

·       Nelson W.S. Goo

·       Timothy E. Ho

·       Judith A. Schevtchuk

·       Curtis E. Sherwood

·       Kevin A. Souza

Chief Justice Recktenwald has 30 days from his receipt of the list today to make his appointment.  

Statistics:

·       Total Applicants: 16; 7 females; 9 males

·       Government Attorneys:  7

·       Private Attorneys:   6

·       Per Diem Judges:  5

·       Age Range: (31-40) 2; (41-50) 6; (51-60) 4; (61-70) 4

·       Years Licensed Range: 9-31 years
