Wounded Warrior and Kaimuki Grad to Speak at Luncheon

Local Former Senior Airman Shares Incredible Story of Surviving War

News Release from Honolulu Navy League, November 15, 2012

Wounded Warrior and Kaimuki grad Brian Kolfage will share his incredible story and insight into being the U.S. Air Force's only triple amputee to survive his wounds from Operation Iraqi Freedom and--to this day--is the most severely wounded airman to survive any war. He received a Purple Heart for the injuries he suffered in 2004 when the airbase he was stationed at in Iraq came under mortar attack. Airman Kolfage is the featured guest speaker at the Navy League's 52nd Annual Sea Service Awards Luncheon being held tomorrow at the Ala Moana Hotel.

“We are so thrilled and honored to have such an incredible hero like Airman Kolfage speak at this year's luncheon,” said Bob McDermott, Executive Director of the Honolulu Council of the Navy League. “His story truly exemplifies the sacrifices our brave men and women go through to protect this country, and this is why we honor our sea service members every year at our luncheon.”

The event will honor 48 senior enlisted and junior grade officer personnel on active duty in the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard serving in the Pacific region. The Ala Moana Hotel’s Hibiscus Ballroom will host the event on Friday, November, 16, 2012 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
