Good morning, 10-23-2012
Last night, my opponent and I appeared together for the final televised debate of this campaign. Over the course of five debates, your outpouring of support for me has been humbling. I hope I have made you proud.
All of our hard work comes down to the next 14 days. Early voting begins TODAY and I know we have the momentum to win this race!
I’ve run in ten separate elections beginning when I was first elected as Molokai’s Councilwoman in 1980. I’ve won all but one election, and I often look back to that 1998 gubernatorial race for a reminder of a tough lesson learned.
In 1998, when I was running against then-incumbent Governor Ben Cayetano (I know- he’s back!), I lost that election by less than 1% of the vote – which amounted to just eight votes per precinct. If just eight more people had voted for me in each precinct, I would have won that election. After that tough loss, my team and I vowed to never let that happen again.
And we haven’t! I went on to beat Mazie Hirono in 2002, and then was re-elected in 2006 by winning all 51 House Districts – a feat that never happened before and hasn’t happened since!
With polling showing this U.S. Senate race in a dead heat, EVERY vote will count.
That’s why I’m asking you personally to help me deliver another win on election day by securing the support of at least eight of your friends and family members to vote for me. If all my registered supporters secure at least eight votes, we will win this election and I’ll have the honor of serving you as your next U.S. Senator.
Join my team as each of us works to secure at least eight additional votes, and make sure they cast their ballot by sundown on November 6. To make it easy, have them avoid the lines on Election Day by casting their ballot by early walk-in voting which begins TODAY! Click here to view the available locations.
Mahalo for your incredible support!
Imua!
Linda
P.S. Please forward this message to your 'ohana, friends and colleagues. Let them know why you are supporting me and ask them to be one of your 8 votes! You personally can make the difference in this election. |
