Learn about UH Law School's accessible Part-Time/Evening Program

News Release from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa October 19, 2012

Find out how to keep your day job – and earn a law degree through the William S. Richardson School of Law’s Part-Time/Evening JD program on the campus of UH Manoa. Join us for an informational session on Thursday, October 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Classroom 1, 2515 Dole Street.

Program director Liam Skilling calls the evening option at the Law School “a chance for mid-career professionals to switch career paths. Students bring the skills they’ve already developed into the classroom to enhance the learning for all.”

Law Dean Avi Soifer notes that the program reflects the belief of the late C.J. Richardson, for whom the Law School is named, by guaranteeing opportunities for people in Hawaii who may otherwise not have the chance for a legal education.

The October 25 session will include an overview of the program, explanation of the law school admissions process, and a discussion with current students.

The Part-Time/Evening JD program, launched in 2008, was tailored to meet the needs of students who have professional, financial or family obligations that make it challenging to go to Law School in the day on a full-time basis. The course load is adjusted for these needs.

Students who maximize their credits each semester and take some additional credits during summers or "J-Terms" can graduate from the Part-Time/Evening Program in four years, instead of the traditional three years.
