MAUI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ENDORSES GOVERNOR LINDA LINGLE FOR U.S. SENATE

News Release from www.Lingle2012.com

HONOLULU – The Maui Chamber of Commerce officially endorsed Governor Linda Lingle for Hawaii’s open U.S. Senate seat today. Governor Lingle participated in a candidates’ forum in August as part of the Chamber’s endorsement process. Lingle’s opponent, Mazie Hirono, did not attend the forum.

“I’m honored to have the support of the Maui Chamber of Commerce and the many businesses they represent. The Chamber represents a diverse group of business and community leaders whom I have worked with since my days on the Maui County Council and during my two terms as Maui’s Mayor. These business owners are looking for our government to restore much-needed certainty and confidence in our nation’s economy,” said Governor Lingle.

“I’m committed to working on their behalf, and ensuring that the people of Maui have a strong, independent voice representing them in the U.S. Senate,” Lingle added.

“Since her time as a Councilwoman and as Mayor of Maui, Governor Lingle has been a strong supporter of our island businesses,” said Maui Chamber of Commerce President Pamela Tumpap. "We are energized by her solid plans to support the people of Hawaii in Washington, the businesses they represent, and her commitment to stay connected with the people of Maui by implementing a Maui-specific advisory board.

“Linda Lingle knows how important it is to be in touch with those she represents and, most importantly, she truly values people’s input. It means a lot to us to know that she is already putting a system in place to keep the lines of communication open so that she can be more available and responsive to the people of Hawaii and not let geographical barriers hinder her leadership,” Tumpap added.

Governor Lingle has also been endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest federation of over 3 million businesses. To read more about her plans for jump-starting the economy and creating jobs, please visit the following link: http://www.lingle2012.com/jobs-economy/
