National Debt Hits $16T--up 50% in Four Years

Message to Supporters from Rep Charles Djou

Today, according to the US Treasury, our national debt hit $16 trillion. That's $16,000,000,000,000.00. Put another way, it works out to over $50,000 for every American - including our children.

Our national debt has increased by a whopping 50% in just four years. We are headed in the wrong direction. I don't want our nation to travel down the same treacherous fiscal path as Greece, Spain and Italy. As bad as unemployment is here in the US, those nations have seen their unemployment rates sky rocket, social security cut, schools close and hope disappear because their governments failed to timely control their debt and spending.

It isn't too late for us to restore a sense of fiscal responsibility in Congress with a balanced budget amendment, a line item veto and a reduction in the size of the Federal bureaucracy. We can do this, but I need your help.

Please consider making a difference in this election by making a contribution of $25, $100, $250 or any amount up to $2500 to help us restore our nation to financial stability. A small contribution now can help us win this congressional seat and reverse the trend line of debt we are piling on our families.

Change is always difficult, but this election is more important than ever to change who represents us in Congress. America does not have to follow the same reckless financial course so many European countries have gone down, if we elect new congressional representatives this fall.

Join me - let's not leave a legacy of $16 trillion in debt to our children.

Mahalo,

Charles Djou
