Lingle: Hirono Has Failed Hawaii

News Release from
HONOLULU - Governor Linda Lingle, candidate for Hawaii's open U.S. Senate seat, won the Republican Primary Election with 92% of the vote, setting up a General Election contest against Congresswoman Mazie Hirono on November 6.
"The people of Hawaii now have a clear choice in this once-in-a-generation election. This race is important because the opportunity to elect a new Senator from our state is so rare, and because of the unprecedented challenges facing our country. Our way of life is being threatened because of the failure of D.C. politicians like my opponent. They failed Hawaii and they failed America. She failed us," said Governor Linda Lingle.
"She put her political career and her party ahead of the people."
"The people of Hawaii need an independent Senator who has a proven record of working with Democrats and Republicans and who has a clear plan for our future. I will spend the next 87 days talking with voters across the state about Hawaii's future," Governor Lingle added.
"My opponent, Mazie Hirono, and her third party allies are likely to spend more than one million dollars attacking me and distorting my record. But the people of Hawaii know me, they know my record, and they know that I am experienced in making the tough decisions necessary while always putting people first," Governor Lingle concluded.
Governor Lingle's campaign has developed a comprehensive grassroots and communications strategy moving into the General Election, including a groundbreaking cable television channel dedicated to providing information about her positions on critical issues for Hawaii, as well as keeping viewers updated about campaign events. Oceanic Digital Cable subscribers are encouraged to tune in to LL12, channel 110 (1110 for high definition). Supporters and interested voters are also encouraged to download the official campaign app "Lingle 2012" for their Apple or Android device in order to stay up-to-date with the latest news from the campaign trail.
At her Oahu Campaign Headquarters in Dillingham Plaza on Sunday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m., Governor Lingle will be holding a news conference to discuss the General Election and her plan for Hawaii's future.
