by Jonah Ka`auwai

Aloha:

On April 6th I filed my nomination petition with the GOP State Committee to run for Chairman of the Hawaii Republican Party.  I am writing you as a delegate to the Republican State Convention on May 15-17 in Kona, and I ask for your vote to be Chairman for the next two years.

My goal and commitment to you in 2010 is to help elect a Republican Governor, a member of Congress and more Republicans to the legislature, council races and Board of Education.  As Party Chairman, I will work to ensure that Republicans contest all Legislative seats so that Hawaii voters have real choices on election day.

I am convinced there is widespread support for the policies Hawaii Republicans stand for:

    · Lowering taxes

    · Achieving energy independence

    · Providing more affordable housing

    · Streamlining government services to cut wasteful spending

    · Expanding educational opportunities for our keiki

    · Appointing a more balanced judiciary by the people of our state

Both Democrats and Independents have proven they will vote for qualified Republican candidates and that is why we won every single district in the 2006 Governor's race. We cannot afford to turn back the clock.  I am committed to organizing and growing our party to execute sound campaigns and win elections!

As chairman and leader of the Hawaii Republican Party, I will welcome everyone, expand our grassroots base, and recruit young people to become volunteers and leaders in our party.  I am pleased to have recruited more than 400 people to sign party cards over the past 3 months.  As Chairman, I will encourage longtime members as well as newcomers to become engaged in the most important grassroots program ever.

As a proud father of two and a leader in my church and community, I have been a small business owner in Hawaii, served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Lt. Governor Duke Aiona and managed correctional industries for the Hawaii Department of Public Safety.  I am a graduate of Kamehameha School and Boston College where I double majored in Philosophy and Business/Marketing.

I believe that the future of our children depends upon the success and strength of the Hawaii Republican Party.  Passionate, committed and collaborative leadership is the only way to assure the Party’s success.

My vision is to build the Party based upon core Republican values that are embraced by the people of Hawaii.

I would be honored to have your vote for Chairman of the Hawaii Republican Party at our state convention.  Please visit www.JonahForChair.com and feel free to call me if you have questions or would like other information.
