NEW LANDFILL WILL NOT BE AT WAIMANALO GULCH PER DIRECTION OF THE BLUE RIBBON LANDFILL SITE SELECTION COMMITTEE

The Ameron Quarry in Kailua was chosen as the best site to house the next landfill. The next step is for the Mayor to agree . . . for he does have the power to not agree and pick another site. Editor's Note: Sen. Pohai Ryan and Pete Carlisle will team up to 'save Kailua.' Both will pick up votes in the August 11 primary election as they pretend to fight to keep the landfill out. In the end the landfill will be steered into 15 more years at the inevitable Waimanalo Gulch--which has been the plan all along.
