List of Potential Candidates Delivered to Governor

News Release from RCAC

On Feb. 6, 2012, the Regents Candidate Advisory Council (RCAC) delivered to Governor Neil Abercrombie's office a list of candidates for the University of Hawai'i Board of Regents (BOR).
A list of 12 candidates was provided, from which four may be nominated by the governor for appointment to the BOR for seats to be filled effective July 1, 2012, with the consent of the Senate.

The candidates for the four seats are:

City and County of Honolulu seat

• John Dean, president and CEO of Central Pacific Bank.
• Ronald Ho, chairman of Ronald N. S. Ho & Associates Inc. electrical engineering company.
• Carol Mon Lee, retired associate dean at the University of Hawaii Richardson School of Law and former member of the state Board of Education.
• Keith Vieira, senior vice president, director of operations, Hawaii and French Polynesia for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

Kauai County seat

• Klaus Keil, planetary scientist with the University of Hawaii’s Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, scheduled to retire on July 1.
• Tom Shigemoto, vice president at A&B Properties Inc.

At-Large seat

• Gregory Chun, vice president, Kamehameha Schools.
• Patrick DeLeon, retired Washington, D.C., chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye.
• Benjamin Kudo, chief financial officer and manager of the land use, administrative and environmental law group of the law firm Imanaka Kudo & Fujimoto.
• Georgia McMillen, attorney.

Student seat

• Jeffrey Acido, graduate student, Asian Studies, at the University of Hawaii Manoa.
• Matthew Williams, recent graduate of the University of Hawaii Manoa with a master’s degree in nursing administration and an MBA.
