Hawai‘i Pacific University News Release

(HONOLULU – Nov. 2011) Hawai‘i Pacific University student Tim Lussier, from West Linn, Ore., was recently elected Student Body President.

A graduate student in communication at HPU, Lussier is the son of Robert and Tracey Lussier, and Barbara Roesch. He graduated from West Linn High School and earned an associate degree from Clackamas Community College, Oregon City.

Lussier holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Studies from HPU. He served in the SGA senate. He is a member of the HPU Sea Warrior Debate Society and an assistant debate coach, and won multiple debate tournaments and competed twice at the US Universities Debating Championships 2011.

Recently, as part of his first formal appearances in his new position, Lussier marched in a procession with HPU President Geoffrey Bannister, Ph.D., during Bannister’s presidential inauguration ceremonies.

“I am honored to serve as Student Body President to be the voice of all students of Hawai‘i Pacific University,” Lussier said. “I will work hard toward empowering the student senate to be the voice of their constituents and we’ll work together to create relationships with the administration to empower students and find solutions.”

Hawai‘i Pacific University is Hawaii’s largest private university with more than 8,000 students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.

Lussier is currently serving as Communications Director for Charles Djou for Congress. In Oregon, Lussier has worked on the Scott Bruun and Matt Wingard campaigns, and he served as Assistant Grassroots Coordinator for the Ron Saxton for Governor campaign. While earning his associate degree from Clackamas Community College, Lussier served as President of the Associated Student Government 2006-2008.
