News Release from www.Djou.com

The Djou for Hawaii campaign filed its 3rd quarter report with the Federal Election Commission (“FEC”) today. The FEC report, which covers the period from July 1 to September 30, 2011, was due by midnight on October 15, 2011.

The report shows that the Djou for Hawaii campaign raised $81,410 in the first 6 weeks of the campaign. The campaign had 411 donors and the average contribution was just under $200. 91% of the money raised was from Hawaii donors and 99% came from individual donors. The campaign has $243,931.70 on hand.

“Although Congressman Djou is in Afghanistan, we are pleased by the amount of support that we have received from people throughout the State.

“People understand that Charles made a commitment to serve and is honoring that commitment in Afghanistan. Charles’s family has received an outpouring of support through emails, letters, and home-cooked meals, and the campaign, although active for only six weeks, has been overwhelmed by offers to volunteer and contribute financially.

“We are humbled by the outpouring of support and the fact that over 90% of our contributions have come from hard-working people inside our State, many of whom have been hurt by a bad economy,” said Dylan Nonaka, Djou for Hawaii’s campaign manager.

Djou announced that he would run for Hawaii’s first congressional district on August 17, 2011, and left Hawaii for Afghanistan on September 9, 2011. A Major in the U.S. Army, Djou is handling detainee operations in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
