Friday the 13th of March became a very lucky day for Maui when hospital developer Brian Hoyle received a 16 page fax indicating that the Certificate of Need for the proposed West Maui hospital was officially approved by Ron Terry, Executive Director of SHPDA - the State Health Planning and Development Association. Pluta and Hoyle have been working on the development of a critical access hospital for West Maui for many years.
Joe Pluta exclaimed "H A L L E L U J A H" in an email sent out to hospital supporters announcing the CON had been officially approved.
On behalf of all the members of AIHM, I would like to congratulate Joe Pluta, Brian Hoyle and the West Maui Improvement Foundation and also the West Maui Taxpayers Association and all of the people who have kindly donated their time and money to this cause. This hospital will be most precious to all of us who live, work and play here on West Maui.
We are very grateful to all of you!
