Honolulu Liquor Commission selects Jason White as next Administrator

News Release from Honolulu Liquor Commission, Aug 20, 2026

HONOLULU – The Honolulu Liquor Commission voted today to appoint Jason K. White, a veteran federal law enforcement executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience, as the Commission’s next Administrator.

White most recently served as a Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Hawaiʻi and previously held several leadership positions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), including serving as a Unit Chief at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, he has led complex investigative, regulatory, and operational programs while overseeing large teams, budgets, and multi-agency partnerships.

“The Honolulu Liquor Commission serves an important public safety mission while supporting a vibrant hospitality industry that is essential to Oʻahu’s economy,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “Jason White is a proven leader with a distinguished career built on integrity, accountability, and sound judgment. His experience leading complex organizations and building high-performing teams makes him exceptionally well qualified to lead the Commission into its next chapter. I congratulate the Commissioners on an outstanding selection and look forward to working with Jason as we continue strengthening public confidence in the agency.”

Additional information regarding his official start date will be announced by the Honolulu Liquor Commission.

White earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from East Tennessee State University and has completed extensive executive and law enforcement training through the FBI Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and other national leadership programs.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the Liquor Control Administrator for the City and County of Honolulu,” said Jason K. White. “I would like to thank Chair Jeffrey Hong and all the Commissioners for the trust and confidence they have in me. I am also grateful to Mayor Rick Blangiardi and his administration, and I look forward to working closely with the Mayor and his team in service to our community.

My immediate focus will be on the dedicated men and women of the Honolulu Liquor Commission. Together with Deputy Administrator Hirai, we will continue to develop a high-performing team committed to integrity, accountability, and excellent public service.”

Pursuant to Chapter 281 of the Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, the Liquor Commission has the sole jurisdiction, power, authority, and discretion to grant, refuse, suspend, and revoke licenses for the manufacture, importation, and sale of liquor within the City and County of Honolulu. The Commission also hears and adjudicates violations of Hawaiʻi liquor laws and administrative rules.

The City Charter administratively attaches the Liquor Commission to the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services. The agency is funded through revenues generated from liquor licenses and fees deposited into the Liquor Commission Special Revenue Fund.
