ACTING GOVERNOR UPDATE

News Release from Office of the Governor, June 11, 2026

HONOLULU — During the period of June 11 through June 15, Acting Governor Keith Regan and Attorney General Anne Lopez will be out of state on previously scheduled travel.

Regan will travel to attend his son’s college graduation, while Lopez will travel to attend her mother’s funeral.

During that time, Department of Budget and Finance Director Seth Colby, Ph.D., will serve as acting governor in accordance with the state’s constitutional line of succession and continuity of government procedures. The Governor’s executive leadership team will remain fully engaged and available to support Director Colby and ensure continuity of government operations throughout the period.

Governor Josh Green will retain executive authority while traveling and will remain in daily contact with state leadership throughout the period. Governor Green will return to the state on June 23, 2026.

GOVERNOR GREEN TO TRAVEL OUT OF STATE

News Release from Office of the Governor, June 4, 2026
HONOLULU — Governor Josh Green will travel out of state from June 8 through June 23, 2026, for time with family.

While traveling, Governor Green will retain executive authority and remain in regular contact with state leadership and cabinet members. Acting Lieutenant Governor Keith Regan will oversee day-to-day government operations in Hawaiʻi and serve as acting governor during the Governor’s absence, consistent with state law and continuity of government procedures.

The administration has also established a coordinated leadership and emergency response structure during the Governor’s travel period. Major General Stephen F. Logan, adjutant general of the Hawaiʻi Department of Defense and director of emergency management, along with cabinet leaders and emergency management officials, will advise and support state operations in the event of a disaster or emergency. Emergency response protocols and emergency proclamation preparations have also been coordinated in advance, to ensure continuity of operations and rapid response capabilities statewide.

“Government operations will continue seamlessly while I am traveling and we have strong leadership and emergency management systems in place to ensure the state remains fully prepared and responsive,” said Governor Green. “Keith Regan brings decades of public service experience and steady leadership — and our cabinet, emergency management teams and county partners are fully coordinated to respond quickly and effectively if needed.”

The Governor’s Office, cabinet agencies and emergency management leadership have coordinated operational plans in advance to ensure uninterrupted government functions and continued statewide readiness throughout this period.

FLASHBACK: GOVERNOR GREEN CANCELS NATIONAL GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION TRIP, REAFFIRMS FULL TRANSPARENCY AND EXPEDIENCY IN ONGOING INVESTIGATION

(CLUE:  When Gov Green leaves the state, Lt Gov Luke becomes acting Governor.  Maybe she might pardon herself.)

News Release from Office of the Governor, February 12, 2026

Attributable to Governor Josh Green:

“Governors convene in Washington, D.C. each February, hosted by the National Governors Association. This annual winter meeting is important to the collaborative work I do on behalf of the people of Hawaiʻi.

However, in light of recent events and to ensure steady leadership for our state during this time, I have canceled out-of-state travel for this month, including my attendance at this long-planned conference.

As I’ve previously stated, regarding the investigation, accountability is essential — no one gets a free pass. We are in an active phase of this effort led by our Attorney General and I want to see all of the facts released to the people of our state as expeditiously as possible. This needs to be resolved for the good of our public trust.”
