HONOLULU—Centennial of Naval Aviation Open House & Special 10th Anniversary 9-11 Remembrance service at Naval Air Museum Barbers Point, Sept. 10-11, 2011
The Naval Air Museum Barbers Point invites all in Hawai'i to enjoy our Centennial of Naval Aviation (CoNA) FREE Open House, including a special 10th anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 10 am on Sunday.
The 9/11 ceremony will honor all those who have served with representatives from the HFD, HPD, Federal Fire, the military and the airline. Celebrating 100 years of flying for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard—a rich history of naval aviation with strong Hawai'i ties beginning in 1925 when the first Naval Aviator, Commander John Rogers, attempted a trans-Pacific flight from San Francisco to Hawaii in a seaplane.
This is Hawai'i's celebration in conjunction with airshows and other CoNA events across the globe. We will be honoring all who have served and all who are currently serving at this historic event. Bring out the entire 'ohana for two sensational days of hands-on and feet-on activities. To general aviation community in Hawaii, please fly in to our CoNA open house for the day or Remain Over Night (RON) and enjoy both days! We are at Kalaeloa Airport (PJRF).
