by John Bond, Save Ewa Field
The public is invited to attend the second and final Federal Section 106 PUBLIC HEARING Meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. which will be held at the Hale Pono`i Building at the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) facility at 91-5420 Kapolei Parkway.
Free copies of the Ewa Field Battlefield Survey will be available and the public will be able to speak and submit written comments to the Navy within a 30 day period. View the survey and photographs in the Ewa Field Battlefield Survey and send in your comments. Experts will be available to discuss the Ewa Field Battlefield Survey and the Federal Section 106 process which could lead to Ewa Field becoming a recognized National American Battlefield and US National Landmark.
The Save Ewa Field position supports preservation of the 1941 Battlefield and making it into an Ewa Field Historic Memorial Park for the Ewa-West Oahu Community, while locating the Hunt Corp. solar PV panels on 20 acres outside of the historic 1941 Battlefield area. This would allow for both public park use and generation of solar PV energy.
