Editors of the Star-Advertiser 'accept nearly all' right-wing letters to the editor.
That's the message to one rejected Ewa Beach Trumpster, from Mikey Campbell, the Deputy Editorial Page Editor of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, according to an email exchange which landed 'BCC' in our email box this morning.
According to Campbell, the challenge for Hawaii right-wingers is not censorship but the lack of ablity to write a cogent letter. It might also help if they could distinguish between editorial opinion content and news content.
The letter-writer, Tom Berg, is a former councilman who self-destructed once elected, and was more recently involved in a confrontation with sovereingty activist gangsters over control of a Kunia marijuana grow-op.
Berg doesn't see an opportunity in Campbell's response.
Do you?

REQUEST FOR SANTA TO CLEAN UP THE STAR ADVERTISER
Letter to Editor of Star-Advertiser, Dec 3, 2025 8:25AM
The commentary undermining our President within the Honolulu Star Advertiser is redundant, extreme, and consistently without merit.
The political cartoons that are published in this newspaper are for the most part, exhibiting a message that this newspaper is on a mission to besmirch our President, the cabinet, and those that voted for and love this President.
The newspaper has become nauseating and disturbing to read. The accusations against the President are unfounded, erroneous, and give cause to cancel subscriptions.
Please fact check your stories, clean up the cartoons, and restore some civility with the ink you use. That is my wish list for Santa.

Subject: Re: LETTER TO EDITOR - TRUMP OVERKILL
Dear Mr. Berg, Dec 3, 2025 6:25PM
This will not be published in its current form, as it is less public commentary than direct criticism of Star-Advertiser content. The latter is not ripe for the letters section, though I will of course discuss your concerns with the editorial board. That said, I believe a few edits to your letter can carry a similar message — lamenting a general lack of right-leaning voices in Hawaii — and will be considered if resubmitted.
Note that all news content on our pages is sourced, vetted and up to the highest journalistic standards. If it is not true, it does not run. As for editorial, we print commentary from both sides. On letters, we publish what we receive and attempt to balance anti- and pro-Trump submissions — to the point of declining many against, and accepting nearly all in favor — but our president and his administration are simply not popular with our readership. If you would like to see your viewpoints more regularly reflected in these pages, please write in and urge like-minded friends to do so as well.
Thank you.
Mikey Campbell
