GOVERNOR APPOINTS DEPUTY DIRECTORS TO DOH, DOT

HONOLULU – Governor Neil Abercrombie today announced the following appointments to the Abercrombie Administration:
- Lynn Fallin as Deputy Director for Behavioral Health of the Department of Health (DOH)
- Jade T. Butay as Deputy Director for Administration of the Department of Transportation (DOT)
Ms. Fallin joins the DOH bringing with her over 20 years of extensive experience in both policy and administrative leadership positions in the area of children and families. She has served in cabinet positions in two states - Hawai'i and Oregon. From 2003 to 2010, she served as the Executive Director of the Ho'okâko'o Corporation. She served as the Special Assistant on Children and Families for the state during the years of 1999 to 2002 ; and was the Oregon Commission on Children and Families Executive Director from 1995 to 1998. Ms. Fallin serves on a number of national and local boards and commissions. She obtained a Senior Management Certificate from Duke University and earned a B.S. from the University of Oregon. Ms. Fallin replaces Gregory Payton, who resigned on April 29, 2011.
Mr. Butay joins the DOT leadership team under its Director Glenn Okimoto. Mr. Butay will oversee budgeting, contracting, staff services and other administrative functions. He fills the vacancy left by Jan Gouveia, who was recently appointed as Deputy Director for the Department of Accounting and General Services. Since 2004, Mr. Butay served as Vice-President of WEBB Construction LLC; and as a partner with R. Casido Construction LLC since 2009, he was responsible for project analysis, budgeting, purchasing and quality control. He previously served as a Management Consultant with MarketScience Corp., providing technical expertise for internet businesses and online advertising projects. Mr. Butay earned a BA from the University of Hawai'i at Mânoa and MA in Business Administration from Babson College.
