June 23 Washington Middle School: Abercrombie to hear from public on Pro Bowl
By News Release @ 12:32 PM :: 8926 Views :: Maui County, Education K-12, Energy, Environment
Aloha everyone,
It has been another busy week at the Office of the Governor.

For several years, residents of Mayor Wright Homes lacked hot water at times due to the intermittent failure of the public housing development’s solar water heating system and backup system. Today Gov. Abercrombie announced the completion of a hot water backup system for Mayor Wright Homes, ensuring hot water for residents.

“The completion of this project is a temporary solution to a longstanding and unacceptable problem,” Governor Abercrombie said. “This is just one of a long series of investments we will make in our public housing—to ensure that families have safe and dignified housing as they move toward self-sufficiency.”

This week the Governor also released funds for more projects that will improve safety and create better learning environments at nine public schools on O'ahu and Maui. The projects are part of the Governor’s New Day Work Projects, designed to create jobs and get money flowing through our economy.

If you would like to SEE what the Governor is up to on a day-to-day basis, check out our Photo of the Day. You can also view photo galleries for events going all the way back to the Governor's inauguration by clicking here.

Please be sure to join us for a public forum on June 23, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Washington Middle School. In addition to words from and Q&A with the Governor and Lt. Gov., there will be brief presentations from Bruce Coppa on our efforts to improve the economy through the New Day Work Projects, Marc Alexander on efforts to address homelessness, and a member of the Board of Education on building confidence in our public schools. A hui hou,
