Naval Air Museum Barbers Point to host Hawaii Youth Challenge Class of 2011 Graduating Cadets for static aircraft displays and aircraft fly-in at Kalaeloa Airport.
HONOLULU—The Naval Air Museum Barbers Point (NAMBP) will be hosting Hawaii Youth Challenge Graduating Cadets for a time of exploring real aircraft, beginning at 1300 through 1530 on Monday, June 13, 2011.
The media is invited to be a part of honoring the gradates of the Hawaii Youth Challenge Program Class of 2011. The 25th Infantry Division-Aviation will be flying in aircraft for the day to go along with all the great planes already on display at NAMBP. The day will feature a fly-in of the Army's HH-60 Black Hawk (medivac), Chinook, and Kiowa helicopters, along with NAMBP's UH-60 Black Hawk, OH-58 Kiowa, SH-60 Sea Hawk, UH-1H Huey, and the UH-3H Sea King. All of these aircraft share a rich history that contributing to Hawaii's own naval aviation lineage.
The Hawaii Youth Challenge Cadets will be at NAMBP to explore the aircraft and learn about the aviation history for each of these special planes.
The Naval Air Museum Barbers Point is sending out a much deserved congratulations to the 2011 graduating Hawaii Youth Challenge class. We will continue to support this program as well as other military JROTC programs in the state of Hawaii.
UPCOMING EVENT: This year marks the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation, and the Naval Air Museum Barbers Point will be holding an open house on September 10-11, 2011. We will be celebrating the Centennial of Naval Aviation with static aircraft displays, exhibits, food booths, entertainment, and a 9/11 10th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony at 1000 on Sunday as part of the opening of the second day of the event. More details to follow as the date approaches. If you have never been out to the NAMBP, now is a great time to visit this little treasure tucked away at the Kalaeloa Airport.
