HONOLULU, April 15, 2025 >> The 2025 Hawaii Legislature is in its final countdown, so it’s time to register for the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii’s annual legislative wrap-up seminars, which this year will be offered in all four of the state’s counties.

“We look forward to hosting these annual community gatherings,” Grassroot President Keli‘i Akina said today, “and this year we are especially excited that for the first time, our talented staff will connect in-person with Grassroot ohana all across the state.”

The featured panelists at the mid-May luncheons in Lihue, Honolulu, Hilo and Wailuku will be Grassroot Director of Strategic Campaigns Ted Kefalas and Grassroot Policy Director Malia Blom Hill, both of whom have been closely involved with this year’s legislative proceedings.

Together, they will discuss how Grassroot’s various housing reform efforts fared, as well as the fate of many proposed tax hikes and tax cuts. They will also address how lawmakers handled the state budget, government transparency, healthcare and legislation aimed at helping Lahaina rebuild and recover.

Akina will moderate the Kauai, Oahu and Maui presentations. Grassroot Finance Director Sean Mitsui will moderate the Hawaii Island gathering.

Additionally, there will be time for audience members to ask questions.
