Seven Gun Bills Moving Fast at Half-Way Point in Legislative Session
from HIFICO, March 6, 2025
We’ve just passed the halfway mark in this year’s legislative session, and the remaining gun control bills have now crossed over between the House and Senate. These bills are moving FAST, and we only have a few weeks left to stop them from becoming law and stripping away our Second Amendment rights in Hawaii!
Here’s what’s still on the table:
SB308 SD2 – Expands magazine bans to include all firearms with detachable magazines over 30 rounds.
SB401 SD2 – Bans firearms capable of firing .50 caliber or higher ammunition.
HB125 HD1 – Increases storage restrictions and requires dealers to give mandatory notices to buyers.
HB137 HD1 – Enforces mandatory prison terms for felons found with firearms or ammunition.
HB392 HD1 – Bans ghost guns and sets mandatory sentencing for their use in a felony.
HB664 HD1 – Establishes a new office and special fund to push gun violence prevention policies.
HB893 HD1 – Bans assault rifles, assault shotguns, and .50 caliber rifles, while expanding the magazine ban.
This is our last chance to fight back!
We must act NOW to protect our constitutional rights before these bills become law. Contact your legislators, spread the word, and stand up for your Second Amendment rights in Hawaii!
