We are pleased to announce the third Healthcare Workforce Initiative Report.
When we look at the data in this 2024 report, the state’s need for healthcare professionals has decreased over the past two years because training initiatives have increased the supply of workers, but demand for healthcare professionals continues to grow because of an aging population.
The data indicates that Hawai‘i needs to continue to grow its healthcare workforce if it is to meet the health and wellness needs of its residents and visitors….
The 2024 report identifies a total of 34,181 healthcare positions in the state and a 14% vacancy rate, a significant decrease from the 17% vacancy rate reported in 2022. As the total number of jobs in healthcare increased, it is promising to see that the percentage of open jobs has decreased. This shows that as the industry grows to meet Hawaiʻi’s increasing healthcare needs, workforce initiatives are positively impacting the development of the local workforce, resulting in more Hawaiʻi residents being employed….
