Many decades ago Singaporeʻs leaders arrived on an official visit to discover how Hawai`i had become so successful achieving a high rate of residential home ownership at very affordable prices. These officials were so impressed they took Hawai`iʻs model back home, replicated it and today Singapore is a very prosperous and wealthy nation.

Yet in Hawai`i homes are unaffordable, many Hawaiians and others have moved away and the ones still here are renters who work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. To find out why, we spent the day with real estate developer Peter Savio.
