Most-read article on Grassroot website all time is ‘Why is Hawaii so expensive?’

from Grassroot Institute
The most-read article on the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii website as of the end of August was written by former Grassroot marketing director Josh Mason, who explained why Hawaii is such an expensive place to live.
Published in March 2022, it is headlined simply “Why is Hawaii so expensive?” and lists three main reasons: high taxes, land-use and zoning requirements that make housing unaffordable, and the Jones Act.
The second most-read article is “Why we left Hawaii,” which is essentially the introduction page for a series of personal stories written from former Hawaii residents about why they left Hawaii.
Also popular over the years:
>>“What is Hawaii’s excise tax?”, by Jonathan Helton, from February 2023.
>>“Honolulu rail project most expensive in the world,” by Joe Kent, from June 2017.
>>“What is the Jones Act?”, also by Kent, from March 2016.
>>“Is Honolulu’s property tax really one of the lowest in the U.S.?”, by Grassroot staff, from June 2023.
