MAJOR UPDATE: We’ve Filed for a Rehearing in the Ninth Circuit!
from HIFICO, Sept 18, 2024
Today, HIFICO attorneys Alan Beck and Kevin Ogrady took steps in our fight for your Second Amendment rights by filing a petition for rehearing en banc in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Here’s why: Hawaii’s Act 52 completely flips the rules on carrying firearms on private property, making it illegal to carry unless the property owner explicitly gives permission. This means law-abiding citizens with carry permits are blocked from protecting themselves in the majority of public spaces!
We believe this ruling directly contradicts the Supreme Court’s decisions in Bruen and Rahimi, which protect your right to carry firearms for self-defense in public. We're arguing that Hawaii’s restrictions not only defy these precedents but also fail to align with America’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.
We're asking the court to reconsider and uphold your rights. The fight isn't over, and we won’t rest until your constitutional rights are fully protected!
