HAVATNA, Guam — The Guam Supreme Court partially denied a disgraced former public health director’s effort to disqualify a certain judge from his misconduct case. The Guam attorney general had listed the judge on his resume as a professional reference, so the former director said this was an improper endorsement, but the judge says he never endorsed the AG and has told the AG not to use his name as a reference. The high court refers the AG’s conduct to the Office of Regulation Counsel for investigation.

Tax avoidance in Guam

HAGATNA, Guam — The federal court in Guam partially dismissed a whistleblower’s qui tam action against some of the island’s revenue and tax officials, who allegedly declined to pursue complaints and reports about certain tax avoiders. The director and deputy director of the department are not dismissed from the suit.
