Ballots and Hawaii Family Forum Voter Guide, July 19, 2024
All voters should be receiving their ballots in the mail by July 23, 2024. I just received my notice (via email) that my ballot is in the mail.
Absentee Ballot Request
August 3, 2024, is the deadline to request a ballot be sent to an alternate address.
Election Day for the Primary is Saturday, August 10, 2024
The County Elections Division must receive ballots by close of voting, 7:00 p.m.
Voter Service Centers (Click to view list of locations)
Open ten business days before the election, offering accessible voting, in-person voting, in-person and same-day registration. Voter service centers are established and operated by the County Elections Divisions and will be open from July 29 - August 10, 2024.
VOTER REGISTRATION:
Voter Registration Deadline
Paper Voter Registration Applications must be submitted to your County Elections Division by July 31, 2024, to register for the Primary Election. Voters may register online or in-person at a voter service center.
Need to Update Your Registration?
You must update your voter registration if you have changed your name, residence, or mailing address. You can update your registration online or by completing a Voter Registration Application and submitting it to your County Elections Division.
Automatic Voter Registration Update Through DMV:
For registered voters completing a driver's license or State ID card application at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the information provided will automatically be used to update their name and/or address for voter registration purposes unless the applicant declines.

Hawaii Family Forum Primary Election Voter Guide
The 2024 Primary Election Voter Guide is Now Available for Download!
You should already be receiving your ballots in the mail. The Office of Elections has a link that you can use to see exactly what your ballot will look like and who will be on it. You can view that link here.
Track the status of your ballot by signing up if you have not done so already. You can do that at this link.
Voting centers will open from July 29 to August 10 for all who want to vote in person. To find out those where those centers are located, click this link.
If you are not registered yet, the deadline to submit the paper Voter Registration Application for the General Election to the County Elections Division is July 31, 2024. The submission deadline is 4:30 p.m. (HRS §11-24). Paper applications must be postmarked to your County Elections Division by this date. After this date, applicants may continue registering for the General Election using the Online Voter Registration System or at a voter service center (HRS §11-15.2).
The Primary Election is Saturday, August 10, 2024.

WE ARE AWARE THAT SOME CANDIDATES DO NOT RESPOND. While we provide several opportunities to respond, we know that candidates get MANY survey requests. That means some of them choose not to respond to our survey. Phone numbers and emails are provided at the end of the guide. You are encouraged to contact those candidates who did not respond and find out how they will vote on the issues that matter to you. [Remember to show respect and aloha when you contact them.]
OUR PDF ONLINE GUIDE IS INTERACTIVE: We acknowledge that some have not responded to our survey. The links in the PDF are active, so you can go directly to their campaign websites whether or not they have responded. Just hover over any link and go directly to campaign websites. This is a great place to find out what your candidate supports and who endorses them.
FOR PRINTING: You can print copies of this survey, but please do not clip out portions, highlight specific questions/answers, or attach it to any campaign literature. 501C3 organizations must ensure voter education drives meet the IRS election survey guidelines.
When in your printer options, you can print a larger file as an 11x17 if you want the print larger. Printing the guide without changing the paperwill default to an 8 1/2 by one size. (Side note)...If you print out copies, please email me and let me know how many you printed and distributed. This helps us with our planning for future guides.
ACCURACY IS OUR GOAL. We have done our best to ensure accuracy but sometimes mistakes happen. Please let us know if you notice any errors so we can update the survey. [Especially concerning phone numbers, campaign website links, etc.]

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:
SB 3125 HD 2 Relating to Medical Care for Minors
Authorizes minors who are at least fourteen years old to consent to medical care and services for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, and family planning services, including the prevention of sexually transmitted infections. Requires confidentiality policies and practices for insurers and health care providers. Effective 1/1/2025. (HD2). This bill was signed into law by Governor Green: Act 091, 06/27/2024 (Gov. Msg. No. 1192)
HB 2802 HD 1 PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 1, SECTION 23, OF THE HAWAII CONSTITUTION RELATING TO MARRIAGE
Proposes a constitutional amendment to repeal the Legislature's authority to limit marriage to opposite-sex couples. (HD1) The question that will be on the ballot in November will read;
"Shall the state constitution be amended to repeal the legislature's authority to reserve marriage to opposite-sex couples?"
Because this is a constitutional amendment, the Governor does not need to sign this bill. This is a question that will be on the General Election Ballot. We will have more information about ballot questions after the Primary.
FEDERAL UPDATE:
Since the beginning of July, the Biden administration has switched its stance on sex-change surgeries for children twice. The administration now says that sex-change surgeries “are typically reserved for adults,” but that “families should have the freedom to make the medical decisions that they and their doctors determine are best for them.”
